Good Eats
Joyce and I don’t eat out a lot, but when we do we like great food, served by freindly staff, in a homey atmosphere, a little quirky is always a good thing! We are not much into the loud, expensive, cookie cutter places, or fast food joints, you can find any where you travel, although they will do in a pinch! We love to share our favorites with our visitors, so they can enjoy them too!
Zephyrhills
Golden Panda Buffett - 37915 Eiland Blvd, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 - We love this little home town Chinese restaurant. The buffett is not huge but has pleanty, a nice variety of styles, and they keep it full! The staff are always very happy to see us, and attentive throughout the meal, and hot tea is always complemntary with your meal!
Sunrise Eatery - 5883 Gall Blvd, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 - This family run restaurant serves American and Greek dishes. They are well known for their generous portions, you can never leave there hungry! Their soups are homemade, the main dishes are out of this world, the pies are at least 6” deep! There are always at least two generations of family serving, laughing and talking with the customers!
The Great Catch - 5039 1st St., Zephyrhills, FL 33542 - This local seafood restaurant has been a mainstay in Zephyrhills for many years. It has had several, owners and names over the years but always the same great New England style seafood dinner. If you are looking for a good ole lobster, cod or shrimp dinner, whole belly clams, or lobster rolls they got you covered! They also have the more southern fried, smothered, barbecued and coconut covered varieties to suit any taste! Rumor has it they even have folks show up occasionally to entertain the customers!
Manolo’s Italian Restaurant - 38445 5th Ave, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 - For authentic Italian cuisine, you cannot get better than Manolo’s in downtown Z’hills! The food is great, and the ambiance makes you think you are right there in Italy! Joyce and the kids tell me the Tiramasu is to die for! I love the cheesecake myself!
Dice's Dairy N Dog - 4930 Allen Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33541 - A great place to grab a hot dog, or a chili dog, or a banana split, or an ice cream cone, or hey, maybe one of everything they have! It is all good and great for a quick snack on the road shopping or on the way to somewhere else!
Out of Town
Ruth’s Steak House - 7409 US Highway 301 S, Riverview, FL 33587 - We found this little gem hidden away in a strip mall in Riverview. It is a a country restaurant that serves up good home cooking with a smile. We drive down there just for the fried green tomatoes! It is conveniently located on US-301, between Zephyrhills and Anna Maria Island or other points south.
Bubbaque’s - 12710 US 301, Dade City, FL 33525 - We first went to BubbaQue’s for a friends birthday party and have been driving up to Dade City for good barbecue ever since! It is a smaller place with limited seating, so we usually go at off peak times. But the food is excellent every time! I love me some barbecue brisket!
The Waterfront Restaurant & Craft Bar - 111 South Bay Blvd, Anna Maria, FL 34216 - Joyce and I found this place one night one one of our trips to Anna Maria Island. It is a really nice restaurant, nestled into the islan’s North end. The chef crafts exquisite meals with things we love to eat ourselves like beats, Brussels spouts, bacon, etc and does oh so wonderful things with them! Plus there are menu favs like shrimp and grits too! This is five star fare, in a romantic setting, with beautiful ambiance at reasonable prices! Really, this is a must!
